Butterfly Room

The Butterfly Room is a spacious open room with a wide range of resources which are placed at the children’s level, so they can instigate their own learning.

The room focuses on preparing the children for school, this is achieved by promoting the children’s independence skills such encouraging them to be confident with hygiene and self-care routines.  Literacy and phonics activities are accessed through play and daily routines such as children having their own pegs and trays which encourages name recognition.  All activities are initiated from the children’s interests which keeps the children focused and simulated, the children also take part in French and Dance classes once a week.

The children have free flow access to the garden where a range of activities take place, such as making mud pies in the mud kitchen, going on bug hunts or developing physical skills on the climbing frame, bikes and scooters.
